Frequently Asked Questions

How do the sessions work?

I provide my therapy online only, using Google Meets. Before each session you will receive a link via email which you can use to access the meeting. You do not need to have Google Meets downloaded on your device, although this is recommended. It is also recommended that you use a device such as computer, laptop or tablet rather than a mobile phone, so as to limit distractions during sessions.

What do I need to do/bring for my session?

Make sure that you are in a quiet, calm space, preferably on your own with no distractions. You will need somewhere that you can lie down comfortably, such as a bed or a sofa, as I will ask you to lie down whilst you are in trance. Put your devices on Do Not Disturb mode, and get ready to relax!

How long do sessions last?

All sessions (except for smoking/vaping cessation) last between 50 minutes to 1 hour. The first half of the session will be discussion and the second half will be trance based.

Smoking/vaping cessation is a one-off session that lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

How does trance work? 

Trance is the hypnosis element of the session. You are in control the whole time, and you will not be asked to do anything other than relax whilst in trance! Everyone experiences trance differently and will go to different depths of hypnosis, but no matter how deep or not in trance you are, you will still feel the benefits!

How many sessions are needed?

In general, clients will need between 8-12 sessions with me. However, this can vary depending on your needs.

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis, or trance, is a naturally occuring state that we go in and out of multiple times a day! It occurs when your conscious and unconscious mind come together in focus, and you may recognise it as those moments when you 'zone out'. As it is a state of focused attention, you do not lose control at any point, and are completely safe. If you do not want to be hypnotised, then you do not go into a state of hypnosis. As your therapist, I will help guide you into this state; however, as stated before, you are in complete control the whole time. The more you do it, the easier it becomes and the more you will reap the benefits!

Why choose hypnotherapy?

Solution focused hypnotherapy is different from other forms of therapy as we do not look into your past- sessions are forward-looking and positive, as this helps you to make those changes and find the solutions that you are looking for. We focus on how you feel and what you are wanting to change, and we don't need to relive past experiences in order to this. For many people, this is an appealing form of therapy as you are able to focus on the positive elements of life and what you are already doing well in order to enact the change that you want to see in your life.

How do I know if this is the right therapy for me? 

During our FREE initial consultation, you will be able to ask any further questions that you have about the process and how this therapy can help you. I will explain how the brain works and show you how we can work together to make the changes that you are looking to implement in your life. Solution focused hypnotherapy can help with so many conditions, and in our intitial consultation, we can look at what you specifically are wanting to get out of the therapy, so that you can decide if this is the therapy that you need.
